Free Consultation
I offer free initial consultation over the phone. Please be prepared to ask all the question that are important to you in your endeavor of finding a right doula. You may speak with your family or even have them participate in our conversation. After you had time to consider, and you feel I am a good fit, then we will schedule the first prenatal visit.
Phone & Email Support
I provide phone and email support outside of the two prenatal visits. If you have a concern or a quick question feel free to contact me during business hours. If you have a question that can not wait until next day, you may contact me via text massage. And I will get back to you as quickly as possible.
2 Prenatal Visits
In general I provide two prenatal visits as part of the package cost. However, if you feel that you need to have more visits from me, that is an option. Additional fee may be assessed depending on your individual situation.
Professional Information
I have been a doula for over 12 years. I assist mother with no regard to race, age, religion, nationality or financial means. I work with mothers of uneventful, as well as high risk pregnancies. I have experience with vaginal and cesarean deliveries. Most births i have attended were in the hospital settings with midwives and /or doctors. I offer a package price, and work with different financial situations.
As a Doula, I Do Not:
Perform any clinical tasks
A Doula is not a medical professional. Thus, I can not provide medical services that would normally be completed by a nurse. I am there to support, massage, encourage, and provide information during labor and delivery. I am there as a psychological and emotional supporter to the mother and her family. I am an advocate for the woman, baby and her support team.
Make decisions for you
I can not make any decisions for you. However, I can provide you with information to empower you to make your decisions that are right for you. I may make suggestions. However, all the decisions have to come from you and your significant other.
During Labor
If you feel you're in early labor and require my support, i will be there to help and encourage you. If you're in active labor, I will be with you from that point on until you give birth. I promise to provide non-stop continuous support, including an hour or two post delivery.
Baby’s First Feeding Support
I have breastfed all of my seven children, facing many challenges that come with breastfeeding. I strongly support bonding time right after birth, " skin to skin" between the mother and the baby, as well as breastfeeding. However, I respect a mother's decision on what ever feeding method that may be. I will provide support during the baby's first feeding.
Postpartum Follow-Up Visit
I provide one postpartum follow-up visit at home, about one to two weeks post delivery. I make this visit to help and see if the mother and baby are settled in. If there are any questions or concerns, they would be answered at this time. If you have quick questions, you may contact me over the phone. Should there be a need for additional visits, arrangements can be made.
Speak to the staff on your behalf
Because I am not able to make decisions for you, I will not be able to talk to staff on your behalf. I may ask the staff to come in and talk to you etc.
Project any of my own beliefs onto your experience
Although I have stated that i had seven high risk births of my children, I will not permit my experience to overshadow yours. Every woman has a unique and different birthing experience, thus, my birth stories will be left at the door. I feel that each mama is the star, and the focus is on her birth story. Also, please note, I will not reveal any information about you to anyone, including your family, mother, sisters, friends etc. I take my clients confidentiality very seriously. It is your choice to reveal what ever information you would like, to your friends and loved ones, at a right time for you.
